LaRussel recently went live with a bold goal: selling 100,000 albums independently in just 30 days. During the stream, he received pledges of $1,000, $5,000, and even Kyrie Irving bought an album for $11,000!

This reminds me of Nipsey Hussle’s famous strategy. In 2013, he sold 1,000 limited-edition copies of his Crenshawmixtape for $100 each. That “Proud2Pay” campaign made $100,000 in a single day and even caught the attention of Jay-Z, who bought 100 copies. Nipsey proved that selling directly to fans and creating exclusivity can be incredibly powerful.

LaRussel’s approach shows a key business lesson: leverage your followers by giving them something valuable and scarce. When people feel like they’re part of something special, they’re willing to invest—not just money, but loyalty and attention. This strategy also echoes ideas from Jonah Berger’s book Contagious, which highlights how value, social proof, and scarcity can make ideas or products spread.

The takeaway? Build strong connections with your audience, offer them exclusive value, and don’t be afraid to try creative ways to sell directly—your followers can become your strongest supporters.
