At their wedding first look, Noah’s reaction to Junelle’s princess dress seemed underwhelming to viewers — he didn’t say “you’re beautiful” and made playful comments about the dress instead, which went viral with mixed reactions.
What most people didn’t see is that just five minutes before walking out, Junelle had been hit with devastating news — all of her Jamaican family, including her sisters, nieces, and a best friend she’d known since age 8, had been denied visas and couldn’t attend. On top of that, a key person who was supposed to give the first speech didn’t show up. She walked out there barely holding back tears, overstimulated, with 10 cameras around her and her aunt nearly fainting on the side.
In that context, Junelle says Noah’s reaction was exactly what she needed. Rather than a compliment, she needed someone to pull her out of her head and make her laugh — and that’s what he did. She also clarified that his surprise about the dress was an inside joke; he’d always said he hated mermaid dresses, so her showing up in a princess dress genuinely caught him off guard.
As for the critics, she noted that most of the “run girl” comments came from women who looked like her, and she addressed them directly — Noah tells her she’s beautiful every day, so one unremarked moment during an emotionally overwhelming wedding means nothing. She said if a relationship can be called off over one missing compliment, it wasn’t solid to begin with.
