Eric Fountain — Escaped Custody
Eric Fountain, 37, of Rochester, NY, escaped police custody at 9:24 a.m. Saturday while being processed downtown. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Rochester Police, NY State Police, and surrounding agencies are actively searching for him.
He is a white male, 5’11”, medium build, last seen in a gray sweatshirt, gray sweatpants, and black T-shirt.
Fountain has a significant criminal history. In 2016, he robbed a Chase Bank on East Ridge Road in Rochester, demanding cash from a teller while disguised in a mask and gloves. An off-duty RPD investigator witnessed the robbery and chased him, but Fountain fled in a black Ford Mustang registered to his brother. Evidence including clothing, a mask, and ammunition found in the vehicle — confirmed by DNA testing — led to his federal indictment on charges of bank robbery, bank larceny, and entering a bank with intent to commit larceny, carrying a maximum penalty of 30 years. He was also previously on federal probation for a drug and gun conviction.
He recently escaped from prison.
